How we got there...
In obedience to the Lord's mandate,
Pastors Herbert and Amalia Rylander, founders of Shiloh Christian Ministries of Hartford, began a Bible study for parishioners in the local Middletown area in 1987. That Bible study served the spiritual needs of many who were hungry for the Word. After meeting in the home of Sister Mary Gatson, the Lord directed Pastor Amalia to formally establish a church and acquire a building in Middletown. In July 1987, Shiloh Christian Church of Middletown was born and held its inaugural service in its current location at 311 East Main Street.
After seeking the Lord for the right pastor for the young Middletown congregation, the Rylanders were led to approach Evangelist Paul Hylton, who was serving as an associate minister of Christ Chapel New Testament Church under the leadership of Bishop William M. Philpot.
Paul and his wife Donna sought the Lord in prayer and the counsel of their pastor before accepting the position. After being convinced in their hearts that it was the will of God to accept the pastorate, Pastor Paul humbly assumed the office of Under Shepherd and began serving the Body at Shiloh on January 1, 1988. |
